Marilyn Crenshaw
Marilyn Crenshaw is the founder and president of TheBlueArchitect.org. As an innovative green architect, she began compiling a database of information on green products and services for building and design professionals. Her “green links” grew to include “blue links”, and it soon became apparent that the magnitude of information was growing too large for her architectural practice to manage. Marilyn felt that the decades of information that had been harvested should be actively shared with those beyond the professional building community. Thus began TheBlueArchitect.org. Marilyn graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture in 1979 and is a LEED Accredited Professional with the US Green Building Council. She is a licensed architect in California, Colorado, Washington, and Arizona and an ARCSA Rainwater Catchment Systems Accredited Professional. While Marilyn was chair of the City of Santa Cruz Green Building Working Group, the organization implemented one of first mandatory green building programs in the United States which led to all California jurisdictions adopting the same distilled green building program. In 2011, the State of California adopted the program as the mandatory California Green Code, and the International Building Code (IBC) went on to use it as their green building template. Marilyn is a Platinum member of CEO Space International and a candidate in San Francisco’s Institute of Architecture’s Green MBA program. When not designing at her desk in Santa Cruz, California Marilyn can be found stand up paddle boarding in Monterey Bay or enjoying her Earthship and skiing in Taos, New Mexico. No matter what she is engaged in, she is always collaborating with kindred spirits on exciting and meaningful projects.
